Jolla mobile phone was finally launched today and first customers got their devices. That means I don't have to wait too long for the first reviews to appear.

Few useful links for those of you who hadn't heard about the phone yet:

Really interesting! Can't say I'd heard of this phone before, but reading up on it - other than the OS - why this over the current crop of phones? Just a curious question based on the 399Euro price tag vs the specs it comes with, seems like there are many other options on the market in that price range with more to offer (this is all based on just reading the manuf website)

Well, at least for me there are these reasons:

1. No servers in USA. I admit being bit paranoid when it comes to privacy and I certainly don't want NSA all over my phone.

2. The Sailfish OS seems interesting.

3. It's Finnish. Being Finnish myself I want to support this especially since Nokia sold its phone department to Microsoft.

N/M...

It would be more funny if Jolla was a Mexican or Spanish company because 'j' would be pronounced like an 'h' in holla.

It looks like they are Finnish ? So most likely pronounce the name 'yolla'.

All good reasons - actually cool idea that it's 'off the grid' in a sense. I'd been thinking of an idea where one could have a cellphone without fear of it being on a shared network, though buying my own network was obviously out of the question hah. Sailfish looks neat! I'll be following for reviews and videos for sure!
